Year 6 Trip to Grosvenor Hall

What a week it’s been! Our Year 6 residential trip was an unforgettable adventure packed with challenges, laughter, teamwork—and a touch of marshmallow magic.

From the moment the coach pulled away from school, the excitement was electric. For many of our pupils, this was their first time away from home for more than a night, but they quickly settled into their new surroundings with smiles, enthusiasm, and a great sense of independence.

One of the first big activities was fencing, and our budding swordsmen and women were thrilled to learn the basics of this elegant and disciplined sport. Dressed in full protective gear, they stepped up with confidence, showing incredible focus and agility as they sparred with classmates. It wasn’t just about winning points—it was about learning respect, precision, and a whole lot of self-control.

Another highlight was the mighty Jacob’s Ladder. This towering wooden structure tested not just physical strength, but also teamwork and communication. In groups of three, the children scrambled up the spaced-out rungs, encouraging each other every step (and climb) of the way. There were shouts of support, high-fives, and more than a few wobbly knees—but every child gave it their all, and we couldn’t have been prouder.

And of course, no residential would be complete without a campfire under the stars. Wrapped in warm clothes and sitting on logs, the children gathered to sing songs, share stories, and toast marshmallows over the flames. It was a moment of calm and connection—the perfect way to end a day of action and adventure.

Throughout the trip, we saw so much growth—friendships deepened, confidence soared, and memories were made that will last a lifetime. Whether they were climbing, fencing, or simply chatting in their dorms at bedtime, the Year 6 children showed resilience, kindness, and a fantastic team spirit.

A huge thank you to all the staff who gave their time and energy to make the trip such a success. And to our amazing Year 6 pupils—what a way to begin your final year at primary school!
