Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Development
Spiritual Development
Our children develop the knowledge skills understanding qualities and attitudes they need to foster their own inner lives and non -material wellbeing.
They learn a sense of self, their unique potential and develop a growing understanding of their strengths and weaknesses. Opportunities are provided at St Theresa’s for all our children to achieve, to question and be curious but more importantly our children are encouraged to find their place in this world so they’re able to answer life’s fundamental questions.
Moral Development
Our children develop the knowledge, skills and understanding, qualities and attitudes they need in order to make responsible moral decisions and act on them.
They learn the difference between right and wrong. They are challenged to seek solutions to moral conflicts. They are encouraged to experience concern for others and to do what is right. Children are given time to reflect on the consequences of their actions and to learn to forgive themselves and others as Christ has taught us.
Social Development
Our children develop the knowledge, skills, understanding, qualities and attitudes they need to make an active contribution to the democratic process in each of their communities.
They learn about the responsibilities and rights they have whilst being members of families and the local, national and global community. Our children learn how to relate to others regardless of similarities or differences. They develop a strong purpose to work with others for the common good. They develop a sense of belonging and a willingness to participate and contribute.
Cultural Development
Our children develop the knowledge, skills, understanding, qualities and attitudes they need to understand, appreciate and contribute to culture.
They learn about and are encouraged to share their cultural traditions. They develop a respect for their culture and the culture of Britain and the heroes and heroines who have made it the country it is today. They show an interest in others’ ways of doing things and their curiosity is encouraged and fed!
