Maths and Movies Event

Some of our very lucky mathematicians in Year 4 and 5 got the opportunity to go the British Film Institute on the Southbank to take part in a fantastic ‘maths in the movies’ day.

In this interactive event pupils became detectives and applied their mathematical skills to solve a mystery. Nemo, the clown fish had gone missing again and had to be found! To find him, they  journeyed through the world of film solving puzzles and problems along the way.

The event was a great way to celebrate Maths!

the group had to read the train timetable with Harry Potter to get on the Hogwarts Express in time,  they calculate if they will be too heavy to swing through the air with Spiderman and even use co-ordinates to map Nemo’s location and find their way out of the silent film era. It was a great day with some really interesting maths questions and tasks. Well done everyone involved!
