Year 5 Stargazers Trip

As part of our exciting Science Week activities, Year 5 had the opportunity to go to both the Science Museum and the Natural History Museum to find out more about space travel!

The class first went to the Science Museum where they had the opportunity to go and explore the various exhibits all about space. They saw how space travel had evolved over time and got to find out some fascinating facts about all the different planets and signigicant events to do with space travel. The staff were very impressed with their behaviour and their existing knowledge on the topic of space!

The class then had lunch at the Natural History Museum before getting the opportunity to take part in a fascinating STEM workshop on creating space buggies. In this workshop, pupils worked in small teams to design and build a LEGO Martian rover. They then coded, tested and evaluated their designs before seeing how their rovers performed on a realistic Martian surface. The children really loved coding the buggies and worked brilliantly as a team.
