Year 5 Trip to National Army Museum

As part of their topic ‘ Fallen Fields’ studying the First World War Year 5 got the opportunity to travel to the National Army Museum where they took part in a wonderfully hands on workshop looking at recruitment and propaganda.

The class first looked at modern day advertisements as discussed what made effective advertising. Then in table groups the children looked at WW1 propaganda posters before selecting the ones that they felt would be the most effective. After Lunch we then took part in a self guided tour – looking at different artefacts from WW1 and learning about significant events such as The Battle of the Somme and what life was like at home.
