Year 6 Trip to Natural History Museum

Year 6 had a very special and jam packed day at the Natural History Museum where they had the opportunity to celebrate the end of their ‘Dinosaur Hunters’ topic and also kickstart their ‘Darwin’s Delights’ topic that they will start after half term. The children were greeted by a huge dinosaur dig experience where they were able to use the classification skills to identify one of four possible dinosaur skulls that their red box contained.

The class then explored the Museum before having another workshop on a topic they had yet to encounter. As we are starting The life of Charles Darwin after half term we were able to learn a bit about who he was and his theory of Natural Selection. The children took part in some hands on learning and this really helped our understanding of evolution.
