Relationships and Sex Education
Relationships and Sex Education (RSE)
At St Theresa’s, our Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) programme is rooted in Catholic values and designed to help pupils develop healthy relationships, respect for themselves and others, and an understanding of their own dignity.
We follow the Ten:Ten Catholic RSE scheme, which provides age-appropriate lessons covering topics such as friendship, self-esteem, family life, puberty, and personal safety, all taught within the context of our faith.
Our approach ensures that pupils:
- Learn about relationships in a respectful and safe environment
- Understand their role in fostering kindness and compassion
- Are supported to make positive choices in line with Catholic teaching
Parents can view our full RSE Policy and find guidance on supporting their child’s learning at home.

Life to the Full TenTen
What is “Life to the Full”?
“Life to the Full” is a Relationships and Health Education (RHE/RSE) programme for Catholic primary schools developed by Ten Ten Resources. It is founded on the belief that every child is created, chosen, and loved by God.
The programme is carefully planned from Reception (EYFS) through to Year 6, ensuring age‑appropriate teaching that grows with the children.
Aims of the Programme
- Support children’s physical, emotional and spiritual development.
- Teach healthy relationships grounded in respect, dignity and faith.
- Help children understand their identity, body and God‑given dignity at every life stage.
- Work in partnership with families, recognising parents as first educators.
What Children Learn — A Progressive, Age‑Appropriate Curriculum
The programme is divided into three broad themes across school stages:
- Created and Loved by God — building self‑awareness, self‑worth, emotional well‑being, personal health, and understanding life cycles.
- Created to Love Others — exploring relationships with family and friends, developing respect and empathy, and learning about personal safety.
- Created to Live in Community — understanding responsibility, community living, respect, and how we relate to others in God’s world.
The teaching is delivered in a spiral curriculum: themes are revisited at increasingly mature levels as pupils move through school—ensuring understanding deepens age‑appropriately.
What’s Included
- Over 80 lesson plans from EYFS through Year 6.
- Engaging teaching tools: videos, stories, class prayers, worship songs, discussion activities.
- Assessment activities to monitor understanding and progress.
- Parent resources: an online Parent Portal with overview of sessions, home‑learning ideas, discussion prompts and guidance.
How Parents Can Be Involved
- Use the Parent Portal to view what your child will learn and when.
- Take opportunities to discuss lessons and themes at home (e.g. relationships, respect, emotions, kindness).
- Use shared prayers or worship resources to reinforce faith and values at home.
- Contact the school if you have any questions or concerns — we are committed to supporting you and your child together.
Important to Know
- The content is taught with sensitivity and aligns with the teachings and values of the Catholic faith.
- Some sessions (especially in upper years) cover aspects of human development and relationships. Parents have the opportunity to view session overviews and support children appropriately at home.
- Parents remain the primary educators: the programme supports home–school partnership, not replaces it.
