Spring 2

Long Ago!

This project teaches children about how they have grown and changed since they were babies and how life in the past was different from today.

Reception Spring 2 Long Ago

Reception started the year looking at ‘How I am Special.’ A topic all about them. They explored what made them special, made mosaics of themselves and described members of their families. They also did lots of talking about their interests and things they enjoy in school and at home. Click the link below to see the overview of the topic and see all areas of the curriculum covered.

Autumn 2 ‘Starry Night’

This project explores the differences in the world at night compared to during the day. It teaches children about the importance of a good night’s sleep, and helps them to discover what is happening in the world while they are sleeping, including finding out about nocturnal animals.

Reception Autumn 2 Starry Night and Winter Wonderland

Our Reception class were so very lucky to have lots of visitors arrive in class yesterday morning from Exotic Explorers.

Exotic Explorers provided a fun, educational sessions to the  students. We got the opportunity to have a really interactive session

Our interactive session helped support the children learn all about different nocturnal animals.  The children were very brave and got to feel the skunk, python and even got a opportunity to see a barn owl fly in the classroom!

This interest-led project teaches children about the technology that is part of their daily lives and how machines help us. The project gives children the opportunity to build and create marvellous machines.

Reception Spring 1 Marvellous Machines

Reception went on a real adventure at St Stephens Garden where they were learning more about the local environment and the different seasons. The children looked at different areas of the gardens and observed the wildlife around them. They were incredibly lucky that they got the opportunity to help the staff by planting their very own apple trees! We hope that when the children are much older that they come and visit their apple trees!
