For the first half term in Year 4 the children will be looking at the Ancient Roman civilisation as part of their topic ‘I am Warrior’. The children write biographies on famous Roman figures whilst researching the growth of the Roman Empire from its beginning to its fall. As part of their music lessons, the whole class will be learning to play the ukulele. Within their computing lessons Year 4 will be learning the importance of staying safe online. This half term the children looked at the United States of America in their topic ‘Highway USA’. In literacy they studied the book ‘The Indian in the Cupboard’ and focused on letter writing. Click the link below to see all areas of the curriculum covered.
This half term the children will be looking at the topic ‘Playlist’. The class will be looking at the different genres of music and seeing where different genres originated from. In Literacy the children will be looking at playscripts and also exploring different forms of poetry. See the link below for full curriculum map.
The last topic of the year for our children in Year 4 will be ‘1066’ where the children will learning all about the Battle of Hastings and other important events within the Norman times. The children will be studying the Bayeaux Tapestry and the Feudal System. In maths, Year 4 will be continuing their work on telling the time, reading different types of timetables and interpreting different sets of data and statistics.
